LG G3 Price Round Up

While LG did not announce the pricing for its new G3 flagship smartphone at its simultaneous eventsin New York, London, and San Francisco on Tuesday, it revealed pricing details for several regions on Wednesday.

LG revealed pricing details for Australia, Korea, Singapore, and Finland. The smartphone has also been listed by retailers in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Romania.

The LG G3 went on sale in South Korea on Wednesday, and the company set a release price of the G3 of KRW 899,800 (roughly Rs. 51,900) for the 32GB/3GB version, which the company admitted was more than the KRW 866,800 (roughly Rs. 50,000) the Galaxy S5 (Review I Pictures) commanded at launch, but less than the 900,000 level 'expected by the market.' Different telecom operators and retailers will list it at their own prices.

Meanwhile, the LG G3 (16GB/2GB) has been given a price tag of AUD 799 (roughly Rs. 43,500) on the LG Australia site, but is as yet unavailable to purchase. In Singapore on the other hand, the phone is due out on June 28, and is priced at SGD 868 (roughly Rs. 40,700) for the 16GB/2GB variant, and at SGD 928 (roughly Rs. 43,500) for the 32GB/3GB variant.

In Finland, LG has given the G3 an MSRP of EUR 599 (roughly Rs. 48,000) for the 16GB/2GB model, and EUR 649 (roughly Rs. 52,405) for the 32GB/3GB model. Official European availability is set for a vague June. That's it for the hitherto released official suggested pricing by LG across regions.

As we said, several retailers have the LG G3 listed for pre-order, with Amazon Germany giving a price tag of EUR 549 (roughly Rs. 44,000) for the 16GB/2GB variant - no 32GB/3GB listing exists yet. Dutch retailer Belsimpel features the same EUR 549 price tag for the 16GB/2GB variant, and EUR 599 price tag for the 32GB/3GB variant. Romania's Alin-GSM lists the 16GB/2GB variant at EUR 599.

An expected UK release date of July 1 has been provided by retailer Clove UK, along with a GBP 499 (roughly Rs. 49,200) price tag. Stay tuned for more price listings as we hear of them.

The LG G3, running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and a single-SIM configuration, bears a 5.5-inch AH-IPS LCD QHD (1440x2560 pixel) display with a staggering pixel density of 538ppi. The G3 will be available in Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet and Burgundy Red. The G3 has dimensions of 146.3x74.6x8.9mm, and a weight of 149 grams.

The G3 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.46GHz, featuring 2GB of RAM for its 16GB built-in storage variant, and 3GB of RAM for its 32GB variant. The LG G3 features storage expansion via microSD card (up to 128GB). The G3 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS+, dual-LED flash and a laser autofocusing sensor. The front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera on the LG G3 features a f/2.0 aperture, and a selfie mode.

Connectivity options include Micro-USB 2.0; Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac; Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Smart Ready Apt-X); NFC; SlimPort; GPS/ A-GPS; Glonass; GPRS/ EDGE; HSPA+ (3G), and LTE (4G) with MiMO support.

The LG G3 is powered by a 3000mAh removable battery, and features wireless charging support enabled via its optional wireless charger. Other features of the LG G3 include a 1 watt speaker with Boost Amp; KnockON and Knoc Code; new smart notifications; a new slim 'Smart Keyboard' layout; new file management features; a minimalistic new user interface on top of Android, and six QuickCircle apps - call log, dialler, music player, messages, clock and shortcuts to settings.

LG G3 to Sport Laser Autofocus Sensor, Hit Shelves by June-End: Reports

Just when we were expecting that LG would keep something hidden for the launch of its flagship smartphone, the LG G3, the smartphone has started appearing in more leaks.

First there was an alleged press render leaked by Phonearena, showcasing LG G3 in full glory with colour scheme, and now the famous tipster @evleaks has hinted at what the mysterious sensor previously spotted on the G3's back panel in leaked images is - a laser autofocus sensor.

The tweet by @evleaks reads, "Mystery G3 sensor? Laser auto focus."

According to @evleaks, what is seen on the left of the LG G3's camera in leaked images is not an IR blaster as previously speculated, but an laser autofocus sensor that will help the camera ascertain the depth at which to focus. Notably, the HTC One (M8) (Review I Pictures) features a duo rear camera setup for the same reason - with the secondary camera meant to help the primary achieve the correct depth-focus.

@evleaks also shared a set of alleged press renders of the LG G3 which have the display on, and showcasing the circular lock screen that LG had revealed in its teaser video for the LG G3.

The tipster also shared an alleged UI screenshot (later removed) of the device's home screen in landscape mode. The alleged screenshot looked similar to the LG's Optimus UI, but it added a fourth touch button alongside the app switcher button.

In another leak from an Indian website, which claims to have received information from a reliable source, LG G3 is said to hit store shelves by June-end. The website also claimed that the LG G3 is not made of a polycarbonate material, but is in fact metal. The brushed metal finish for the LG G3 has been confirmed by the company in the teaser video, however, it still remains possible that finish has been achieved on a polycarbonate body.

The website also claimed that that the LG G3 will be powered by a Snapdragon 801 SoC instead of the previously rumoured Snapdragon 805 SoC. Other specifications mentioned by the website however remain the same as previously rumoured - a 5.5-inch QHD display, 3GB RAM and a 13-megapixel Sony IMX 214 Exmor RS sensor with OIS+. Another earlier rumour had indicated that the LG G3 will come in a 16GB variant that features 2GB of RAM, while its 32GB variant will sport 3GB of RAM.

The credibility of all these leaks and reports will ascertained on the day of the LG G3's official unveiling, scheduled for May 27 in London, New York, and San Francisco, followed by a May 28 event in Singapore, Istanbul and Seoul.

LG G3 reportedly spotted in images showing off rear buttons

The successor to the LG G2 flagship, the LG G3, has been spotted in a leaked image. Unfortunately, the leaked image is of low-resolution and has been shot with a dark background. However, the leaked image shows the alleged rear panel of the handset with physical buttons accompanying the primary camera.

GSMArena claims to have obtained a live image of the alleged LG G3, which shows back-mounted buttons for power and volume controls, first seen in LG G2. The leaked image does indicate that the rumoured G3 will feature a new design, different from the current LG G-series smartphones.

Recently, purported LG G3 screenshots flaunted a new 'flat' UI on the QHD display of the handset. The screenshots leaked showed a flat, card-style design of the yet-to-arrive LG G3. The notification panel was also seen with a brand new look, in-line with the rest of the interface, and looked bit cluttered due to its QSlide app tray. Nevertheless, the overall design of the user interface, said to be running over Android KitKat OS, seems clean and appealing.

The AnTuTu benchmark points out some more specifications such as Adreno 330 GPU, OpenGL ES 3.0, a rather inaccurate 640 dpi, and multi-touch support.

LG G3 rumour roundup: Chipset, retail packaging, and release date

Lately we have been hearing a stream of rumours and leaks regarding the LG G2's successor, the still-officially-unnamed LG G3. Adding to the list, an alleged image showing the alleged gold-coloured retail box, speculated details about its chipset and release date, and a mock-up image of the phone of the handset have surfaced online.

The golden retail box shown by The Verge, indicates the handset to arrive in a Gold variant following the colour's popularity - evinced by the demand for respective colour variants of smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S5, Apple iPhone 5s, and the HTC One. The LG G2 was also released in Red and Gold variants. Unfortunately, no details of specifications or pricing were derived from the alleged gold retail box.

However, a report coming from KoreaHerald cites a LG spokesperson stating that the firm will start mass-producing homebrewed application processors within the second quarter of this year. The processors are said to power the upcoming LG G3 and other LG and third-party mid-to-low-cost smartphones, indicating the G3 will launch soon.

The LG G3, expected to arrive in late June or early July, is said to resemble the recently seen 'LG isai FL' smartphone's design that was leaked in an image. LG's alleged 'isai FL' smartphone, which is headed to Japan's KDDI carrier, was leaked by @evleaks couple of days ago.

If the LG G3 does indeed sport a similar design as the LG isai FL, it would sport very thin bezels around the screen, something previously rumoured.

A mock-up of the LG G3 was developed by a Bulgarian blog (via Phonearena), citing an inside source who claims to have seen the device. The mock-up shows a buttons-on-the-back design that is slightly different from the G2, as well as a matte plastic finish with an underlying pattern. The G3 is also claimed to feature a removable back cover, and a microSD card slot.

No capacitive buttons are visible on the front, indicating the use of onscreen keys. The Bulgarian blog's source also indicates the presence of an LED light in the lock key, and claims the back panel will feature a dual-LED flash and infrared transmitter.
